What Our Dinosaur Worksheets Can Be Used For

They can easily be used in a number of different activities. In terms of arts and crafts, when your kid has practiced their cutting out one of these dinosaurs you should then task them to create a piece of artwork that uses it. They could practice their creativity by drawing or painting around it.

Or a fun crafty activity could be to make a dinosaur-themed scene. It would be perfect for a scrapbook-style mixed media project where they could use stickers, coloured paper, other pictures, or even just pencils and paint! Task them to create a realistic environment for the cut-out dinosaur – like a jungle with volcanoes in the background.

Or here are some games:

  • A dinosaur scavenger hunt. Hide the cut out dinosaurs around the room and your kids must find them. You could give them hints with fun facts about the dinosaurs they’re looking for!
  • Either prepare some fun facts about each of the dinosaurs (and we’re providing a few below) or get your kids to do so, and write these out. Scatter all of the dinosaurs and all of the facts on a flat surface, and get your kids to match them together. Time it for an extra challenge!
  • If they’re confident they know some dinosaur facts already, then give them a category and get them to sort out all the dinosaurs according to this. For example, ‘sort the dinosaurs into their different types, like theropod and sauropod!’ Or you could do it by their diets, how long ago they lived, or even just organise them in size order from smallest to largest.

  • Dinosaurs roamed Earth for around 135 million years – the earliest humans only existed at the earliest 7 million years ago!
  • Dinosaur fossils have been found on all seven continents
  • Modern birds are technically a type of dinosaur! This is because they evolved from a type of dinosaur.

  • Tyrannosaurus Rex – This carnivorous theropod is estimated to have had the strongest bite of any animal on Earth. It’s over 100 times stronger than a humans!
  • Stegosaurus – Although this herbivorous armoured dinosaur was about the size of a bus, it only had a brain the size of a walnut!
  • Triceratops – This herbivorous ceratopsian dinosaur is estimated to have had around 800 teeth! Even more interesting is the fact they tended to wear them down and lose them, but they could grow back multiple times.
  • Velociraptor – This carnivorous theropod is actually only the size of the average turkey!
  • Gallimimus – This omnivorous theropod is one of the fastest dinosaurs to exist. It could run around 35 miles per hour, which is twice the speed of a fit human!
